As someone who will play an otherwise terrible game, simply for a good story, it may seem weird for me to be using the lack of story in Towerfall as a plus. There isn’t any need for a tutorial, not a single second is wasted on story, and the menus could be navigated by a five year old.

Within minutes of starting up the game, you and however many friends you’ve tricked into spending time with you, will be laughing and having a blast. There are not too many games being released these days that focus 100% on the fun, but that is exactly what Towerfall does. I'm sorry if this upsets you, but I have to stay true to myself and my vision for TowerFall.A high level of polish, tight controls, and subtle complexity make Towerfall not only one of the most exceptional indie games in recent years, A high level of polish, tight controls, and subtle complexity make Towerfall not only one of the most exceptional indie games in recent years, but one of the most purely entertaining games of the past few years, period.

It is a simple alternate costume for the existing character, and I think it looks cool even if you have no idea the meaning behind it. We were stoked when she gave us permission, and determined to include the reference in a tasteful way, which I think we pulled off. We included the small nod to Anita because her work made TowerFall a better game, and allowed it to connect with many more people. I know this because countless players have told me. Many people may not notice, but to others it makes a world of difference and signals that the game is welcoming them to play.

A huge part of TowerFall is how welcoming it is to new players, and this extends all the way to the inclusive character designs. We added the reference solely because Anita's work greatly influenced our direction for the four original archers (both male and female). Unfortunately, if this subtle reference to Anita in the alternate Last of the Order taints the game for you, I'm afraid it was probably already tainted, you just didn't know it.
